Remember These?

video
If you ever traveled the highways of British Columbia in the good old days then you no doubt remember the old frog garbage cans. This clip shows some kids doing what I'm sure most of us did, pretend that the frog is eating them. It seemed like a good idea until you realize you are sticking your face into a can of rotting garbage!

Don't try this at home

video
This video is pretty much self explanatory. I love the little clip at the end. I am sure we all have a fond memory of licking the icing off the egg beater, I know I do.

Helicopter in Valhalla

video

This clip is just plain cool. I have always loved helicopters ever since I spent a few years in my youth as a heli-portable surveyor looking for copper in the Rocky Mountains. This clip is why I started referring to the Hammond's as The Adventure Family. Again for fun the audio is fake as this is silent film, it is derived from some low quality royalty free internet files.

Christ The Redeemer

video
Today's clip is of the famous statue "Christ The Redeemer" located in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil.
French sculptor Paul Landowski and his team of artisans erected the impressive statue to commemorate the hundredth anniversary of Brazil's 1822 independence from Portugal. Due to budget constraints, however, the centennial artwork was finished nearly a decade later in 1931, and then only with help from the Vatican. Sleekly contemporary in appearance, the statue was fashioned of soapstone and concrete.
The ominous audio has been added for no other reason than to be in the spirit of the season and is courtesy Skywalker Sound Labs.

Okanogan Lightning Storm

video
This clip was filmed one hot August night in the beautiful Okanogan by yours truly. It has been slowed down to show what's really going on and the audio has actually been designed with the magic of Pro Tools audio editing software. The shot is looking towards Vernon from the west side of Okanogan Lake. We sat on my Dad's deck hanging out and enjoying a classic Okanogan storm.

Nanaimo Bathtub Race Old School!

video
No fancy equipment here, Just slap a motor on your old bathtub, strap it to a surfboard and go! There is a common theme that starts to become apparent with old home movies. A total different mind set when it came to safety. Nobody wore helmets (or life jackets as you can see in this clip). This clip is said to be from the very first bathtub race in Nanaimo!
This photo shows a modern tubber and all the gear they now wear.
